James Hitz tragically lost their life on May 14th, 2025, after a two-vehicle accident near Madison, Nebraska. The incident occurred at the intersection of Highway 81 and Highway 32 when James’ Jeep Gladiator collided with the back of a semi-trailer. Authorities confirmed that James attempted to avoid hitting the semi but lost control, resulting in the vehicle overturning.
James was swiftly transported to Faith Regional Hospital by ambulance, where they later succumbed to their injuries. The driver of the semi, Jeff Kelley, was checked by emergency medical services and released at the scene.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Madison Police Department, Fire and Rescue, and D&L Towing, responded to the scene. Sheriff Todd Volk shared that the preliminary investigation suggested James swerved to avoid a crash but tragically clipped the semi, which caused the fatal accident.
Friends and family are grieving this sudden loss, and condolences have been pouring in from the community. Memorial services will be announced by the family at a later time.
