Nicklas Delisle, a beloved member of his family, tragically passed away on May 19th in a heartbreaking kayaking accident near the Holyoke Dam. While spending time with his girlfriend, Mya Ballard, fishing on an island south of the dam, the couple’s kayak capsized as they attempted to return to shore.
A nearby fisherman managed to rescue Mya, bringing her safely to shore. However, due to the treacherous conditions and swift currents, Nicklas was separated from Mya and was last seen drifting around a bend. Despite a continuous search effort by local authorities over the next two days, Nicklas could not be found.
Nicklas, known for his deep love of fishing and his big-hearted nature, is remembered as a kind and loving soul who brought joy to everyone around him. He was a dedicated uncle, always showing his playful side with the children in his life, and took great pride in his hobbies, including his homemade fish tank.
Rebekah Radzunas, his sister, expressed the family’s profound grief, saying, "Our family is heartbroken over losing our boy Nick." She added, "There are no words to describe the hole left in our hearts, but we hold on to the hope of finding him and bringing him home to rest."
The family continues to receive support from the community, with many sharing heartfelt condolences. As search efforts persist, the family remains hopeful that they will soon be able to lay Nicklas to rest.
Details regarding memorial services will be announced at a later time.
