On April 27th, 2025, a tragic accident in Bolingbrook, IL, claimed the life of 2-year-old Yunaleska Nival. Yunaleska was struck by a vehicle that was backing out of a driveway on Grand Canyon Drive.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:53 p.m., and emergency responders were quick to arrive on the scene. Officers immediately performed lifesaving measures until paramedics arrived and transported Yunaleska to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Despite the valiant efforts of first responders, Yunaleska succumbed to her injuries on April 29th, 2025.
Yunaleska’s family and the Bolingbrook community are mourning the loss of such a young life. In an outpouring of support on social media, one friend wrote, “My heart breaks for Yunaleska’s family. Please keep them in your prayers during this unimaginable time."
The Bolingbrook Police Department’s Traffic Unit is currently investigating the incident, though it remains unclear whether any charges will be filed against the driver involved.
