Alexander Brooks Of LaGrange Remembered After Wednesday Evening GA-219 Crash Near Murphy Road In Troup County

Alexander Brooks, 20, of LaGrange, Georgia, died after a two-vehicle crash on GA-219 near Murphy Road on Wednesday evening, May 6, 2026, just after 6 p.m.

Georgia State Patrol reported that Brooks drove a Pontiac Grand Prix southbound when the vehicle crossed into the northbound lane and collided with a Toyota Prius.

First responders transported Brooks to WellStar West Georgia Hospital, where Troup County Coroner Erin Hackley pronounced Brooks dead.

Three people from the Toyota Prius remained in critical condition at the same hospital, according to the May 7, 2026 report.

Authorities continued to review the circumstances surrounding the crash, which involved four unconscious occupants and temporarily closed part of the roadway while crews cleared both vehicles.

Family members will announce obituary and funeral service details at a later time, and the LaGrange community now remembers Brooks with sympathy and care.
