The Labette County community mourns Carl Hinkle, 69, of Walnut Shade, Missouri, who lost life after a motorcycle crash on U.S. 400 on Saturday morning, May 30, 2026.
Kansas Highway Patrol reported that the 2005 Harley-Davidson traveled westbound just before 7:30 a.m., about one mile east of U.S. 169, before leaving the roadway, entering a ditch, and overturning.
Medical personnel transported Carl Hinkle to Labette Health Hospital, where staff pronounced Carl Hinkle deceased about three hours later.
Troopers reported that Carl Hinkle was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
