Chhay Choun Remembered After Passing On May 2, 2026, As Family Shares Memorial Fund Details And Loving Tribute
Chhay Choun passed away on May 2, 2026, after a long period of declining health, according to a May 7, 2026, fundraiser organized by Monica Seo in Madison, Wisconsin.
The fundraiser shared that Chhay entered hospice care in 2024 after pneumonia, while asthma and age-related challenges left them bedridden.
Family remembered Chhay as a devoted parent, grandparent, and great-grandparent who raised Monica Seo from 6 months old and cared deeply for many loved ones.
Chhay had 6 sons, 2 daughters who had already passed, and a spouse who passed 10 years earlier after a heart attack.
The tribute also described Chhay as a Khmer refugee from Cambodia who built a life in America and gave steady care, faith, kindness, forgiveness, and compassion to family and others.
As of the post, the memorial fund had raised $1,746 toward a $10K goal through 14 donations to help with funeral expenses.
The family said memorial and funeral service details will be announced later.
