Don Keller Remembered After Greenwood Officer Dies In Monday Night Patrol Collision On East Cambridge Avenue
Don Keller, a veteran Greenwood Police Department officer, died Monday night in Greenwood, South Carolina, during a patrol response connected to a fleeing car carrying at least three young people.
The May 12, 2026, incident began near East Cambridge Avenue and moved toward North Hospital Street, where Keller’s patrol unit collided head-on near the intersection of New Street.
Responders rushed to the scene, assisted several people, airlifted one person for emergency surgery, and took two young people into custody.
A blue truck also became part of the crash scene, and neighbors described deep sorrow as emergency teams worked along the residential roadway.
Senator Tim Scott shared condolences for Keller, and the South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to review the details.
