Jeffery McDonald, 59, Of Lincoln, Remembered After Fatal Motorcycle Crash Near Interstate 80 And NW 48th Street On May 2, 2026

Jeffery McDonald, 59, of Lincoln, Nebraska, died Saturday evening, May 2, 2026, after a motorcycle crash near the Interstate 80 interchange at NW 48th Street.

Authorities said the incident began around 7:50 p.m. when a Nebraska State Patrol trooper observed a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed on westbound I-80 in Lincoln.

Officials reported that the rider did not stop, and the brief pursuit lasted less than three minutes before the motorcycle exited at NW 48th Street and crashed near the interchange.

The trooper arrived moments later, requested emergency medical assistance, and began life-saving measures at the scene.

Despite those efforts, Jeffery McDonald was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries.

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office will lead the crash investigation at the request of the Nebraska State Patrol.
