Karen Inez Francisco, Beloved Retired CNA and Cherished Community Member, Dies in Devastating Bastrop, LA House Fire
Karen Inez Francisco tragically passed away on Friday, April 24, 2026, after a house fire engulfed her home on the 4300 block of Maplewood Drive in Bastrop, Louisiana.
Emergency responders arrived promptly, but despite their courageous efforts, the blaze claimed Karen’s life, leaving the community in deep sorrow.
A retired Certified Nursing Assistant, Karen dedicated her life to caring for others and was widely remembered as a “cheerful giver.”
Her love for family was profound, and she found joy in travel, especially cherished trips to the beach. Karen was a devoted grandmother whose presence brought immense warmth and comfort to her grandchildren.
Friends and neighbors expressed their condolences online, with one commenting, "Karen’s kindness touched so many lives. Our hearts are with her family during this heartbreaking time."
Karen is survived by her significant other, William “Billy” Crook, and her children, Jessica, Lacey, and Brandon. Her passing leaves an immeasurable void, as she was preceded in death by her parents and three of her children.
