Lance Estervig Remembered After Fatal Car Accident During Return Trip From Las Vegas as Community Rallies Around the Estervig Family
Lance Estervig died in a car accident on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, while traveling home from Las Vegas, according to a fundraiser shared by Arizona Sky Volleyball Academy.
The fundraiser said Lance and 18 Blue player Sammy Estervig were involved in the crash, and it confirmed that Lance passed away at the scene of this heartbreaking loss.
Sammy Estervig underwent surgery after the accident and remains in stable condition, while family members and the wider volleyball community continue to support the Estervig family.
Arizona Sky Volleyball Academy wrote, "We are devastated to share that Lance passed away in the accident," and described the loss as "gut wrenching" for Sammy, Melissa, Taylor, and all who know the family.
The fundraiser states that donations will help cover funeral expenses, surgery costs, and living needs as the family faces the days ahead.
