Martin Alexander Gonzales Rangel, Beloved Denver City Teen, Tragically Killed in Gaines County Vehicle Crash, Leaving Community in Mourning
Martin Alexander Gonzales Rangel, a 19‑year‑old from Denver City, Texas, tragically lost his life in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of FM 2055 and FM 2056 late Tuesday evening.
The collision occurred just after 8:30 p.m. when a GMC Sierra, driven by 40‑year‑old Heriberto Gonzalez‑Romero, ran a stop sign and collided with a Ford F‑150 heading north. Martin, a passenger in the Sierra, was killed at the scene, while the driver sustained minor injuries. Two other passengers from the Sierra, along with the driver of the Ford, were seriously injured and taken to hospitals for treatment.
Friends and neighbors remember Martin as warm, kind, and full of life. Many shared online how his laughter and generous spirit brightened family gatherings and local hangouts. One friend wrote, "Martin always had a way to lift your spirits; the town feels emptier without him."
Residents of Denver City and Gaines County have left flowers and notes at a makeshift memorial near the crash site, expressing sorrow and support for the grieving family. Authorities continue investigating the crash, with early reports pointing to the Sierra running the stop sign as a critical factor.
Details regarding Martin’s memorial services will be announced by the family. His memory will live on in the stories of his kindness, generosity, and the joy he brought to his community.
