Norbert Berard, 39, passed away on the evening of June 6, 2026, after an incident near Daigre Street and Tut Street in New Iberia shortly after 9 p.m.
The New Iberia Police Department reported that officers found Berard hurt at the scene, and emergency responders could not save Berard’s life.
Investigators said an argument involving several people preceded the incident, two people were detained at the scene, everyone involved has been identified, no charges had been announced, and the inquiry remained ongoing.
