Osvaldo Dantas, 62, Tragically Dies in Pedestrian Accident in Matawan, NJ

Osvaldo Dantas, a 62-year-old resident of Matawan, New Jersey, tragically lost his life after being struck by a taxi on the morning of March 18, 2026. The incident occurred around 6:20 a.m. near Railroad Plaza and Johnson Street.

According to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, the taxi, a 2009 Chrysler Town and Country, was traveling west when it veered off the road, hitting Dantas before crashing into a telephone pole. He was immediately rushed to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where he passed away later that afternoon at 3:53 p.m.
