Simon Slabking Of Troup, Texas Remembered After Friday Highway 110 North Collision Near New Summerfield
Simon Slabking, a Troup, Texas resident, died on Friday afternoon after a two-vehicle collision on Highway 110 North just outside the New Summerfield city limits.
Authorities said a northbound driver from Mount Enterprise entered a no-passing zone and collided head-on with the southbound vehicle in which Simon was riding.
Emergency crews responded quickly and transported Simon for medical care, but Simon died en route to the hospital.
The northbound driver also died at the scene, and Cherokee County Judge Rodney Wallace responded as officials ordered an autopsy for that driver.
Texas DPS, New Summerfield Police, and the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene, and Highway 110 North reopened around 8:30 that evening after several hours of closure.
Loved ones confirmed Simon’s identity after officials initially withheld names pending family notification.
Memorial and funeral service details will be announced later by family members.
