Dana Weinger Of Huger Remembered After Fatal Patio Umbrella Accident During Lakeside Dinner In Summerton
Dana Weinger, 56, of Huger, South Carolina, died Saturday evening during an outdoor dinner at Driftwood Grill Home of the Lazy Gator in Summerton.
The May 26, 2026 report said Dana and a spouse sat on the patio overlooking Lake Marion when a sudden storm brought strong wind around 7:40 p.m.
Officials said the wind lifted a patio umbrella from a nearby table, and Dana suffered severe head and neck injuries.
Emergency responders arrived quickly, but Dana remained unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the restaurant.
Authorities treated the case as an accident and scheduled an autopsy in Charleston at the Medical University of South Carolina to confirm further details.
