David McCray, Tragically Passes Away After Injuries Sustained While in Custody at County Detention Center in Udall, KS
David McCray tragically passed away on Wednesday, March 25th, after being found unresponsive in his jail cell in Udall, Kansas. Despite having sustained a broken leg while in a construction zone within the county detention center, David had been recovering but continued to report feeling unwell.
Emergency responders were unable to revive David after his heart stopped, and he was pronounced dead in his cell. This unexpected and heart-wrenching loss has left his family devastated, especially as they had never anticipated such a tragic event at such a young age.
David leaves behind children and siblings, and his family now faces the emotional and financial burden of funeral and burial expenses. The family had to deal with the sudden loss of a loved one, and a GoFundMe campaign has been set up to assist them during this difficult time.
Tonya Stout, the fundraiser organizer and David’s relative, expressed the family’s heartbreak on social media, saying, “Our hearts are forever broken... I can only imagine how much he suffered before he succumbed to his injuries while being in a jail cell instead of a hospital or infirmary.”
