Juan Antonio Smith II, 26, Remembered After Rockdale County Fire Rescue Truck Rollover In Conyers
Rockdale County Fire Rescue firefighter Juan Antonio Smith II passed away Friday evening, June 12, 2026, after a ladder truck rollover in Conyers while the crew responded to a nearby structure fire call.
The incident happened around 5 p.m. as the truck made a left turn at an intersection and rolled onto its passenger side.
County officials identified Smith on Saturday, June 13, and described the 26-year-old as a dedicated public servant whose commitment to helping others left a lasting mark.
Smith joined the department on February 5, 2024, and colleagues remembered a person who brought energy, kindness, and a strong desire to learn every part of the fire service.
Fellow firefighter Blake Ellis shared that Smith encouraged others, carried a warm smile, and made a meaningful impact on peers across the Georgia fire community.
