The Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) community is in mourning following the unexpected passing of Dr. Julie Duckart, an associate professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy. Dr. Duckart, who had called Berea, Kentucky, her home, passed away on March 26, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, kindness, and academic excellence.
Known for her vibrant personality, Dr. Duckart was described by many as the "social butterfly" of the department. Her warmth and infectious energy lit up classrooms and hallways, creating a positive and inclusive environment for both students and colleagues alike.
