Tania Mangual and Jericho Mangual Tragically Pass Away in Akron, OH in a Heartbreaking Incident
On the evening of March 28, 2026, Akron, OH, was shaken by a devastating loss as Tania Mangual and her 12-year-old son, Jericho Mangual, were tragically killed in an act of violence. Their deaths have left an immense void in the hearts of their family, friends, and the entire community.
At approximately 8:10 p.m., Akron Police responded to reports of a shooting near 30 West Wilbeth Road. Officers discovered a vehicle that had crashed into a tree and was partially engulfed in flames. Inside, Jericho, who had suffered a gunshot wound, was found and pronounced dead at the scene. His mother, Tania, also a victim of the shooting, was rushed to Cleveland Clinic – Akron General Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The police investigation led to the arrest of 28-year-old Brandon T. Casto, who has been charged with aggravated murder and felonious assault. A 2-year-old sibling, thankfully unharmed, was taken to Akron Children’s Hospital as a precaution.
Tania Mangual will be remembered for her warmth, love, and devotion as a mother. Jericho, a young boy with a bright and curious spirit, brought joy to everyone he met. The community has united in their grief, honoring their memory and offering support to the family.
